HO SD45T-2 Locomotive Union Pacific #4825 (ATH86868)

HO Scale Union Pacific SD45T-2 Locomotive is a highly detailed six-axle diesel-electric model that captures the look of the Tunnel Motors. The prototype was built by GM's Electro-Motive Division in the early 1970s, delivering about 3600 horsepower from a 20-cylinder 645-series engine. After Union Pacific absorbed Southern Pacific in 1996, many of these units received fresh paint and continued in revenue service, a heritage reflected in authentic UP styling with features like a nose headlight, a modified L-window cab, roof air conditioning, a Nathan P-3 horn, a large front plow, and a small anticlimber.

Designed for modern HO layouts, the model highlights true-to-life detailing and performance: fine-scale handrails, photo-etched windshield wipers, see-through cab and radiator features, LED lighting, welded air-cooling components, and separately applied air tanks and grab irons. It runs on RP25-contoured wheels with all-wheel drive and a precision gear train powered by a 5-pole motor with flywheels for smooth, quiet operation. The locomotive is DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM Quick Plug, and sound-equipped versions include onboard DCC with SoundTraxx Economi sound that works in both DC and DCC with full function control. Minimum operating radius is 18 inches (22 inches recommended), and McHenry scale knuckle couplers complete the authentic coupling experience.
