HO SD45T-2 Locomotive Southern Pacific Speed Letter #9402 is an HO-scale replica of SP’s six-axle diesel, capturing the 1990s Speed Lettering look and the tunnel-motor era. This model reproduces the prototype’s distinctive details, including a nose headlight, a modified L-window cab, roof-mounted A/C and bell, and the Nathan P-3 horn on the long hood, along with ditch lights, a large front plow, and a pronounced anticlimber. Designed for both operating sessions and display on an HO layout, it brings authentic Southern Pacific character to a roster of locomotives.

Inside, the model features fine-scale handrails, photo-etched windshield wipers, see-through cab windows, LED lighting, and separate air tanks, all mounted on a highly detailed injection-molded body. The drivetrain uses all-wheel drive with a 5-pole motor and flywheels for smooth, quiet operation, and nickel-plated, blackened machined wheels with RP25 contours to ensure reliable tracking on common HO track. It is DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM plug and accepts McHenry knuckle couplers for realistic operation. Sound-equipped variants add an onboard decoder with SoundTraxx Economi sound, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds in both DC and DCC, with full function control and easy CV adjustments.
