HO Scale Western Maryland SD40 Locomotive No. 7446 is a highly detailed, ready-to-run model that faithfully recreates WM's 3,000-horsepower SD40 for HO-layout railroading. It captures distinctive WM styling—medium plows on both ends, a bell mounted on the left side of the long hood, extra ballast along the right-hand walkway, and early cut levers with fine handrails. The model rides on Flexicoil-C trucks with high brake cylinders and is offered in DC and DCC-ready configurations, with Quick Plug plug-and-play wiring for easy digital setup; sound-equipped versions add onboard Tsunami2 DCC/Sound with dual cube speakers for authentic engine, horn, and bell sounds. McHenry-scale knuckle couplers (Kadee compatible) provide prototypical, reliable coupling out of the box.

On the rails, this SD40 delivers smooth, reliable operation with all-wheel drive and all-wheel electrical pickup. It features bi-directional LED lighting, see-through dynamic brake and cab windows, and separately applied air tanks, all housed in a highly detailed injection-molded body with a 4,000-gallon fuel tank. Prototypical touches like Flexicoil trucks with high- or low-brake cylinders, fine scale handrails, etched windshield wipers, and RP25 wheel contours enhance realism, while a newer can motor provides stronger, quieter performance. The DCC and Tsunami2 sound versions bring authentic engine, horn, and bell sounds, with the non-sound version using a 21-pin NEM DCC plug.
