HO 2-6-0 Steam Locomotive MEC #246 (ATH87241)

HO Scale 2-6-0 Mogul Steam Locomotive MEC #246 is a ready-to-run HO model that brings a classic branch-line engine to life on your layout. It features a heavy die-cast frame, a detailed injection-molded body, see-through cab windows, a smoke stack, and a boiler-mounted bell, all painted and decorated for realistic display and operation. Designed for reliable performance on standard HO track, this locomotive is ready to run right out of the box.

On the rails, it uses a 5-pole motor with precision flywheels and a multi-link drive train for smooth, consistent operation. Traction tires on two drivers add pulling power, while electrical pickup comes from all drive wheels and tender wheels (traction tire wheels do not pick up). Bi-directional LED lighting keeps the headlight steady in either direction. The model is DCC-ready with a 21-pin plug and can run on DC or DCC; the standard version comes ready to operate, while a sound-equipped variant adds an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami sound, full NMRA-compatible functions, and tuneable CVs with an included chart for customizing performance. Track radius compatibility includes a minimum of 18 inches, with 22 inches recommended for best results.
