An HO-scale SD40 locomotive with DCC and sound in Western Maryland livery, unit 7447, delivers the look and performance of the railroad’s 3,000-horsepower six-axle SD40s. For realistic operation, the model combines a detailed injection-molded body with prototypical details and modern electronics: Tsunami2 sound with dual speakers on the sound-equipped version, bi-directional LED lighting, see-through cab, dynamic brake and radiator window transparency, and finely rendered grab irons and handrails. It uses McHenry knuckle couplers, RP25 wheels, and Flexicoil trucks with appropriate brake cylinders, plus all-wheel electrical pickup for smooth power on DC or DCC. DCC-ready Quick Plug makes installation straightforward, and an improved can motor delivers stronger yet quieter performance. The model is designed for HO layouts with an 18" minimum radius (22" recommended) and is ready to run alongside other era-appropriate equipment.
