This HO-scale SD40 locomotive with DCC and sound recreates the Colorado & Southern Railway’s #876, designed to bring realistic operation to HO layouts. It features a detailed injection-molded body with authentic touches like chicken wire radiator grills, MU hoses, and a rear pilot-mounted handbrake. DCC-equipped versions include an onboard Tsunami2 decoder with dual cube speakers for engine, horn, and bell sounds, while bi-directional LED lighting provides reliable illumination. A newly designed, more powerful and quieter can motor, together with Quick Plug plug-and-play DCC compatibility, supports smooth, straightforward operation.

Beyond the exterior realism, see-through dynamic brake, radiator fans and cab windows, plus separately applied wire grab irons and air tanks contribute to a lifelike silhouette. It rides on Flexicoil-C trucks with scale knuckle couplers and benefits from all-wheel electrical pickup for steady current. Fully assembled and ready to run, it is painted and decorated for realism, with window packaging for easy viewing and an interior blister for safe storage. For layout planning, a minimum 18-inch radius is recommended, with 22-inch curves ideal for best performance; the DCC version is NMRA-compliant and supports full function control in DCC mode (some functions may be limited when running on DC).
