HO Heavyweight RPO MEC #415 Model Passenger Car (ATH88228)

An HO-scale heavyweight RPO Maine Central passenger car designed for realistic post office and passenger service on HO layouts. This model is part of a three-car set that includes an RPO, a diner, and an observation car, providing an era-appropriate passenger train for any layout.

It rides on six-wheel passenger car trucks with machined metal wheels in RP25 contours for smooth operation, and is weighted for dependable tracking. The body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers provide prototypical coupling, while the injection-molded body is painted and printed to capture fine decoration. A separately applied brake wheel adds to the realism, and a minimum radius of 18 inches keeps performance solid on standard HO curves. Drawing from the heavyweight Pullman era of the early 1900s, steel construction offered strength and longevity, with many such cars remaining in service into the 1960s and 70s on secondary or maintenance runs.
