HO SD38 Ready to Run B&LE #867 Locomotive (ATH88639)

HO Scale SD38 Ready-to-Run Locomotive in B&LE livery, road number 867. This highly detailed, fully assembled model recreates the EMD SD38 diesel-electric with accurate proportions and smooth, quiet operation on HO layouts. It features see-through cab windows, separately applied grab irons, a dual-beam headlight, and a DCC-ready 21-pin NEM plug for easy decoder installation on both DC and DCC layouts.

Power comes from a robust 5-pole skew-wound motor with flywheels and all-wheel drive for steady pulling power, with RP25 wheel contours to suit most HO track. Road 867 includes a Leslie 3-chime horn, front and rear ditch lights, and a red coupler cut lever. BLE variants add prototype-specific touches such as a dynamic brake setup with a large air-filter box, cab gyra-light, smaller fuel tank, ditch lights, no plow, rear brake wheel, extra jacking pads, a yellow frame stripe, and painted lower steps. Sound-equipped versions feature onboard Econami Sound by SoundTraxx, delivering engine, horn and bell sounds that operate in both DC and DCC with full DCC functionality. A 22-inch radius (or larger) is recommended for smooth operation, and the model's detailed injection-molded body and precise decoration help capture the feel of the real locomotive.
