HO-scale Ready-to-Run SD38 locomotive in B&LE livery, number 868, designed for realistic freight operation on HO layouts. This six-axle diesel-electric model captures the prototype with a detailed injection-molded body, see-through cab windows, a standard low-nose profile, and front ditch lights. It arrives fully assembled and ready to run, with fine-scale handrails, McHenry scale knuckle couplers, RP25 wheel contours for smooth operation across common HO track, and bi-directional lighting that keeps headlights consistently bright in either direction.

Under the hood, the SD38 is equipped for versatile operation: it’s DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM plug and compatible with a Genesis motor retrofit kit. Sound-equipped variants feature Onboard Econami Sound by SoundTraxx—engine, horn, and bell sounds that operate in both DC and DCC, with full DCC functions when in DCC mode. The BLE #868 rendition adds distinctive detailing such as a silver P3 horn and cab light housing, front ditch lights, a repainted nose and battery-box effect, and a faded lower-steps look for added realism. The model targets HO layouts with a recommended 22" minimum radius, delivering reliable pulling power and smooth, quiet operation.
