Norfolk Southern SD38 HO-scale Ready-to-Run Locomotive, road number 3805. This ready-to-run HO model recreates the NS SD38/SD38AC diesel in authentic Norfolk Southern livery, designed for reliable operation on an HO layout and suitable for both freight runs and display.

Two NS road-number options are represented—3805 and 3818—each with distinctive patch schemes and faded paint reflecting prototype details, including front ditch lights and a large fuel tank. The SD38 features separately applied wire grab irons, see-through cab windows, a detailed injection-molded body, and it is fully assembled and ready to run with all-wheel drive, a 5-pole skew-wound motor with flywheels, RP25-contoured wheels, and McHenry scale knuckle couplers for smooth, prototypical operation. It’s DCC-ready via a 21-pin NEM Quick Plug and supports bi-directional lighting; sound-equipped variants add Onboard Econami Sound by SoundTraxx, workable in both DC and DCC with full functions and CV-based customization for MU lashups and precise control.
