HO Auto-Max Carrier KCS #8102 (ATH96191)

An HO-scale Auto-Max articulated auto rack model that reproduces the real Gunderson Auto-Max, a distinctive intermodal car designed to haul vehicles on three internal ramps. Built for HO-scale layouts, it brings a high-capacity, prototype-style transporter to a model railroad scene.

Details include separately applied ladders, brake rigging, stirrups, and handbrake details, a simulated corrugated roof, and full articulation via a flexible diaphragm, plus safety striping. It rides on 70-ton roller bearing trucks and 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, is weighted for steady performance, and uses body-mounted scale knuckle couplers for authentic coupling. The injection-molded body is highly detailed and painted and printed for realistic decoration, presented in the KCS livery, and designed for a minimum curve radius of 22 inches. The real Auto-Max, introduced by Gunderson in 1999, could carry 22 SUVs on three internal ramps and measured over 140 feet long and about 20 feet tall in prototype; this HO model captures that distinctive presence and operation on HO layouts.
