HO 30' NACC 8,000-Gallon Tank Model (ATH97178)

HO-scale 30-foot, 8,000-gallon North American Car Corporation tank car model, commonly known as the “Beer Can” car, shown here in Wyandotte Chemical / UTLX livery. This detailed HO model recreates a compact liquid carrier designed for smaller shipments, a familiar sight on rail networks from the 1970s through the 1990s. It’s a versatile addition to a home layout, offering era-appropriate traffic and a distinctive silhouette for industrial scenes.

Attention to detail includes a separate manway and vent, photo-etched platforms, wire-form end railings, and separately applied ladders with bracing, plus brake gear with an air reservoir and brake wheel. The underside is fully modeled and includes the outlet, and the model rolls on machined metal wheels with RP25 contours and prototype trucks. It is ready-to-roll with either 100-ton roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks, uses body-mounted scale knuckle couplers, and comes accurately painted and weighted for smooth operation on HO track with an 18-inch minimum radius.
