HO 30' NACC 8,000-Gallon Tank Car VMCX #1206 (ATH97181)

HO-scale 30-foot NACC 8,000-gallon tank car, road name VMCX 1206, is a faithful recreation of the North American Car Corporation’s compact 8,000-gallon “Beer Can” tank car. Designed for smaller liquid shipments, this model is a practical and realistic addition to HO layouts, especially for setups that aim to depict era-specific equipment on compact bases.

Meticulous detailing includes separate manway and vent, photo-etched metal platforms, wire-form end and platform railings, and separately applied ladders with bracing. The underside is fully detailed, with brake gear including an air reservoir and brake wheel. It rides on period-correct 100-ton roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks, features machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and uses body-mounted McHenry AAR knuckle couplers for smooth handling. Painted and printed to prototype standards, the injection-molded body is weighted for reliable operation on HO layouts with a minimum 18-inch turning radius.
