HO 30' NACC 8,000-Gallon Tank Model VMCX #1209 (ATH97182)

HO scale 30-foot NACC 8,000-gallon Tank Car, Model VMCX 1209, is a faithful reproduction of the North American Car Corporation’s compact 8,000-gallon tank car built for smaller liquid shipments. Commonly seen on North American railroads from the 1970s through the 1990s, these “Beer Can” cars add an era-accurate splash of character to HO layouts.

This ready-to-run model features a highly detailed injection-molded body, accurate painting and lettering, and a weight designed for reliable operation. It includes separate manway and vent, photo-etched platforms, wireform end railings, and individually applied ladders with bracing, plus full brake gear with air reservoir and brake wheel and full underside detail including an outlet. It rides on prototype 100-ton roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks with machined metal wheels using RP25 contours for smooth performance on most tracks, and body-mounted McHenry operating AAR upper- and lower-shelf scale knuckle couplers for authentic handling. With a minimum turning radius of 18 inches, this car is well suited to small yards and layouts that model late-20th-century service.
