HO GEN 57' FGE Mechanical Reefer (ATHG-1112)

An HO-scale, 57-foot Fruit Growers Express mechanical reefer is a fully assembled, ready-to-run model designed for model railroad layouts. It faithfully reproduces a classic postwar mechanical refrigeration car, featuring a detailed injection-molded body with see-through end screens, end-wall corrugation visible inside, and an inner refrigeration bulkhead, plus factory-applied end ladders and door closure rods and trainline hoses with silver ends. Two prototype-end exhaust stack styles—straight pipe with a flapper and the T-shaped smokejack—mirror real-world variations.

On the rails, the model delivers solid HO performance with full underframe detail including Keystone cushioning, air brake components, control valve, brake cylinder and plumbing, and a fuel tank. It rides on 100-ton roller bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps and machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and is weighted for reliable operation. It supports standard HO radii (18 inches minimum, 22 inches recommended) and offers features like onboard SoundTraxx sound in suitable variants, a grime-ready finish for weathering, McHenry scale knuckle couplers, three different coupler cut-lever styles, and the option for body-mounted or truck-mounted brakes to match prototype configurations.
