HO-scale 57-foot Mechanical Reefer from Fruit Growers Express is a ready-to-run model that recreates a mid-century mechanical refrigeration car for the layout. Based on prototype drawings and field measurements, it features see-through end screens and end platforms, visible end-wall corrugation, an inner bulkhead, and factory-applied end ladders and door closures. The highly detailed injection-molded body rides on 100-ton roller bearing trucks with RP25 wheel contours and includes full underframe detail, trainline hoses with silver ends, and robust weight for smooth operation on typical HO layouts.

Sound-equipped versions are available with onboard SoundTraxx audio, using recordings from an actual reefer unit that can cycle on and off and be adjusted for volume. For modelers seeking a weathered, in-service look, primed-for-grime variants reproduce faded base colors and provide a natural starting point for adding rust and grime. The model features two exhaust stack styles to match prototype eras, and can be equipped with McHenry scale knuckle couplers, with either body-mounted or truck-mounted brakes per the prototype. It runs reliably on HO curves, with a minimum radius of 18 inches and 22 inches recommended for best performance.
