HO GEN 57' FGE Mechanical Reefer FGMR #12362 (ATHG-1115)

A 57-foot HO-scale mechanical refrigerated freight car, accurately reproduced for model railroading. This ready-to-run reefer captures the look and hardware of the real Fruit Growers Express fleet, with an option for onboard SoundTraxx sound to reproduce authentic refrigeration and motion as it runs. Scaled from prototype drawings and field measurements, liveries vary by road number and reporting marks to reflect the real fleet.

Beyond its exterior realism, the model features a highly detailed injection-molded body, see-through end screens and platforms, and an inner bulkhead. It rides on machined metal wheels atop 100-ton roller bearing trucks and includes full underframe detail, brake gear, trainline hoses, end ladders, and doors. It offers either body-mounted or truck-mounted brakes, McHenry scale knuckle couplers, and multiple exhaust stack styles (straight pipe with a flapper or T-shaped smokejack) to mirror the era. The model is weighted for reliable operation on standard HO layouts with a minimum 18-inch radius and a recommended 22-inch radius; sound-equipped versions use authentic recordings with adjustable volume, while grime-ready editions provide a natural starting point for weathering and patina.
