HO-scale 57-foot Mechanical Reefer from Fruit Growers Express is a faithfully detailed model designed for prototypical refrigerated service on HO layouts. Reproducing a mid-century mechanical refrigerator car, it captures the smooth sides, see-through end screens, inner bulkhead, end platforms, and other era-accurate touches with variations by road number to reflect real fleets. Available in a ready-to-run form or with onboard SoundTraxx sound for added realism, this reefer is ready to slot into a typical freight consist and enhance scenes with period authenticity.

Beyond its exterior fidelity, the model features full underframe detail and factory-applied touches such as end ladders and door closure rods, see-through protective screens, and see-through end platforms. Two exhaust-stack styles mirror prototype variations, and a complete set of detail parts—trainline hoses with silver ends, three different coupler cut-lever styles, and either body-mounted or truck-mounted brakes—provide prototype-accurate operation. It rides on 100-ton roller bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps, machined RP25 wheels, and a weighted chassis for smooth, reliable running. Fully assembled and ready to run, it’s designed for HO curves with a minimum radius of 18 inches (22 inches recommended). Sound-equipped versions use authentic recordings from a reefer unit with adjustable volume, while a Primed for grime option offers a weathered, in-service appearance to start the aging process.
