HO-scale 57-foot mechanical reefer from Fruit Growers Express, built to reproduce mid-century refrigerated freight service on a model railroad. It arrives fully assembled and ready to run, with an onboard sound option that captures authentic reefer noises as the train moves. The model is scaled from prototype drawings and field measurements, and paint and markings can vary by road number to reflect authentic fleet detail.

Details include see-through protective screens on the ends, visible end-wall corrugation, an inner bulkhead, and see-through end platforms, plus two exhaust-stack styles to match different eras. The underframe is fully detailed with Keystone cushioning, air-brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinders and plumbing, and a fuel tank. Factory end ladders, door-closure rods, trainline hoses with silver ends, and three styles of coupler cut levers provide prototype accuracy, while a choice of body- or truck-mounted brakes and McHenry scale knuckle couplers supports authentic operation. The model rides on 100-ton roller bearing trucks with rotating bearing caps, machined RP25 wheels, and is weighted for smooth running. Minimum radius is 18 inches, with 22 inches recommended for best performance. Sound-equipped versions feature audio recorded from an actual reefer unit that cycles on and off and uses minimal track power with adjustable volume; a grime-ready finish is available as a starting point for weathering and rust effects.
