HO GP7 Locomotive AMTK #776 (ATHG-1233)

An HO-scale Amtrak GP7 locomotive, AMTK 776, recreates the classic 1949 EMD GP7 for your layout. It features see-through cab windows with a full interior, LED lighting, and a heavy die-cast frame for solid traction. Fine details such as etched radiator grilles, wire grab irons, Celcon handrails, and a detailed fuel tank contribute to a convincing, scale-accurate appearance, while prototype touches like roof access hatches on non-dynamic units and authentic bell placement round out the look.

On the rails it runs with smooth, quiet operation thanks to Blomberg-B trucks with bearing caps, RP25 wheels, and all-wheel electrical pickup. Body-mounted knuckle couplers are Kadee-compatible, and the model is DCC-ready with Quick Plug 21-pin NEM interface for easy decoder upgrades. LED lighting adds realism, and the drive system delivers reliable performance. Sound-equipped versions include an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers, operable in both DC and DCC with full NMRA functions and CVs that can be adjusted to taste (CV chart included). The GP7 lineage traces to EMD’s 1949 introduction, with many examples rebuilt into GP7Rs for extended service. Minimum turning radius: 18 inches.
