N ACF 2970 Covered Hopper Model (ATHG-1290)

ACF 2970 Covered Hopper Model is a detailed two-bay railcar replica designed for realistic bulk-cargo operations on model railroad layouts. Recreating the Centerflow design introduced by American Car and Foundry in the 1960s, this model reflects a rounded body and gravity unloading, with a capacity of 2,970 cubic feet for authentic bulk loads like cement and sand.

Details include a photo-etched metal roof walk, outlets, and round or trough hatches, plus a separate brake assembly with a brake cylinder, valve and air reservoir and brake plumbing. It rides on body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, with separately applied wire grab irons and a brake wheel, machined metal wheels, screw-mounted trucks, and a weighted chassis for smooth, reliable operation on layouts with a minimum radius of 9¾ inches. The Primed for grime version offers an authentic in-service look with faded base colors and is an ideal starting point for adding grime and rust.
