HO GP18 Locomotive, Conrail #7499. This HO-scale model reproduces a late-1950s EMD GP18 switcher, part of the GP7/GP18 family and the last of GM’s first-generation road-switchers. Road-number-specific detailing reflects prototype history, including Lehigh Valley heritage cues, and on certain units a hood-mounted air filter box with modified left-side skirting for an authentic Conrail-era look.

With a heavy die-cast frame for traction, the GP18 uses a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision machined flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation. All-wheel drive with precision gears delivers pulling power, while Blomberg-B trucks with bearing caps, see-through cab windows with a full interior, etched radiator and fan grilles, and body-mounted scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible) on RP25 wheels keep the model stable on track. DCC-ready Quick Plug plug-and-play 21-pin NEM connector supports easy decoder installation and allows operation in both DC and DCC; lighting is bidirectional with constant brightness. Sound-equipped versions add an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 and dual cube speakers, offering full DCC functionality and CV customization with an included CV chart. The minimum radius is 18 inches, with 22 inches recommended for the smoothest operation.
