This HO-scale GP18 locomotive with DCC and sound, SBC #2306, is a detailed ready-to-run model that captures the look and feel of EMD’s late-1950s GP18 switcher for HO layouts. It rides on a heavy die-cast frame for traction, features see-through cab windows with a full interior, etched grills, and scale handrails for a lifelike silhouette. Body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible), Blomberg-B trucks, and RP25 wheels help ensure smooth, reliable operation on common HO track, while a Genesis-style five-pole skew-wound motor and multi-link drivetrain deliver steady, quiet power and excellent electrical pickup. Designed to run on both DC and DCC, it also utilizes Quick Plug plug-and-play technology with a 21-pin NEM connector for easy DCC integration.

Sound-equipped versions include an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2, dual cube speakers, and full DCC functions, while still usable on DC. The NMRA-compliant decoder supports precise slow-speed control and lashups with a lead unit’s horn, bell, and lights, with a CV chart included in the box for easy customization.
