This highly detailed HO model brings a GP38-2 diesel to life with an onboard DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound, plus dual cube speakers for crisp, realistic audio. It runs on both DC and DCC and offers full DCC functionality, so it can be controlled like a real locomotive on modern layouts. Quick Plug plug-and-play technology with a 21-pin NEM connector makes setup straightforward, and features include a full cab interior, see-through cab windows, windshield wipers, wire grab irons, coupler cut levers, LED lighting, plus a heavy die-cast frame and RP25-contoured wheels for steady operation and scale-accurate appearance. The model is finished in prototype-inspired paint schemes for an authentic SBD look.

Under the hood, the GP38-2 uses a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision-machined flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet, reliable pulling power. All-wheel electrical pickup helps maintain current on the rails, while MU hoses, walkways, sander lines, lift rings, and other fine detailing enhance realism. Designed for HO layouts with a minimum 18" radius, it rolls on RP25 wheels and supports NMRA DCC functions with customizable CVs (a CV chart is included).
