HO 13K Gallon Acid Tank Car ASTX 5022 (ATHG-1439)

HO-scale 13,000-gallon acid tank car, designed for realistic chemical-service scenes on a HO model railroad. It reproduces the look and handling of a prototype acid hauler, adding authenticity to yards, sidings, and industrial corridors.

Two body configurations reflect early and late prototype forms, with top platforms that vary by version, plus separate wire grabs and handrails for added realism. The car rides on trucks with animated rotating bearing caps and uses body-mounted McHenry scale double-shelf knuckle couplers for prototypical operation. Underframe detail is extensive, including an air brake reservoir, control valve, and a brake cylinder with plumbing and brake rods, while etched metal walkways and multiple brake systems and end sills further enhance authenticity. Coupler lift bars, trainline hoses, brake hoses, and other hardware are faithfully represented, with many separately applied details. Machined metal wheels with RP25 contours ensure smooth operation on most popular brands of track, and the design accommodates a minimum radius of 18 inches. Multiple road numbers, with unique numbers across singles and three-packs, further support realistic roster-building.
