HO ACF4600 Covered Hopper Primed For Grime (ATHG-1530)

HO scale ACF 4600 Center Flow 3-bay covered hopper, primed for grime, is a detailed model that recreates a mid-1960s grain-hauling hopper in service. The Primed For Grime edition duplicates the look of in-service equipment, featuring faded, dull base colors matched to the prototype and prepared as a starting point for adding grime and rust on a weathered layout.

Key features include three body styles (early: high side ladder and brake wheel with a single side stiffener; mid: low brake wheel with short ladders both ends and a single side stiffener; late: same as mid but with double side stiffeners after 1971); round or trough hatches; photo-etched roofwalk; separately applied wire grab irons, stirrup steps, and brake wheel; a separate brake cylinder, valve and air reservoir with wire brake plumbing; screw-mounted trucks; and body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers. Weighted for smooth operation on HO layouts, it rides on Genesis 100-ton trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels and spinning roller bearing caps, all carried on a highly detailed injection-molded body with accurate paint and printing. It negotiates an 18-inch minimum radius and represents the widely used 4600 cu ft Center Flow design, a grain-hauling hopper that became common on many railroads and layouts.
