N ACF4600 Covered Hopper Undecorated Phase II (ATHG-1565)

An N-scale replica of the American Car and Foundry 3-bay Center Flow Covered Hopper in undecorated Phase II trim. This model captures the mid-1960s grain-hauling design with a 4600 cubic foot capacity and the distinctive rounded Center Flow body, which was engineered to simplify gravity unloading on freight service.

Three body styles representing early, mid, and late configurations are included, along with round or trough hatches, a photo-etched roofwalk, detailed outlets, and a separately applied brake wheel. The model rides on screw-mounted 100-ton trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels and uses body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers, all weighted for smooth operation. The finish is accurately painted and printed, with a minimum curve radius of 9¾ inches for reliable layout performance, and it’s primed for grime to provide a ready starting point for weathering authentic in-service appearances. The Center Flow design, adopted by many railroads to replace aging boxcars in grain service, reflects a practical evolution in bulk-hopper equipment from the era.
