HO P42DC Locomotive AMTK 'Veterans' #42 (ATHG-1666)

An officially licensed Amtrak HO-scale P42DC Genesis locomotive in the Veterans livery, road number 42, designed to faithfully reproduce Amtrak’s Genesis fleet that powered passenger trains across the country. Fully assembled and ready to run, it offers multiple nose variations to reflect real Amtrak units (as-built with strobes, as-built without strobes, rebuilt, and Via). Lighting includes LED headlights, operating ditch lights, and front and rear marker lights, plus lit number boards for day or night operation. DCC-ready versions use plug-and-play electronics with a 21-pin NMRA connector, while sound-equipped variants pair with a Tsunami2 decoder and dual speakers to deliver authentic engine rumble, horn, and bell sounds. Realistic touches such as flexible MU hoses, flexible trainline hoses, separately applied handrails, an exhaust stack, a photo-etched radiator grille, and a highly detailed underframe complete the scale fidelity.

On the rails, this Genesis-based model benefits from a redesigned die-cast frame for strong tractive effort, all-wheel drive and electrical pickup, RP25 wheels, and a 5-pole skew-wound motor driving a precision drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation. It’s built to run on HO layouts with an 18" minimum radius (22" is recommended). Road-number specifics include 164 (Phase IV) with a PTC antenna farm, 82 and 174 (Phase VII) in as-built configurations, and 42 as the veterans unit, each with its own antenna and nose-light details. Sound-equipped versions offer full DCC functionality with CV-based customization, including MU lashups and independent control of horn, bell, and lights, while DC versions retain the same lighting and solid performance.
