Amtrak Phase V P42DC Genesis Locomotive, HO scale, road number 142. This officially licensed Amtrak-painted model reproduces the Genesis era in Phase V livery and is designed to haul passenger trains on HO layouts. It offers multiple nose variations (as-built with strobes, as-built without strobes, rebuilt, and Via) and a range of antenna configurations to mirror real-world units. Inside, a detailed cab interior and extensive underbody detailing—piping, air filters, and air dryer—are supported by a redesigned die-cast frame for solid, smooth operation. LED headlights, ditch lights, and marker lights help capture authentic day and night operation, and the model arrives fully assembled and ready to run.

On the rails, the Genesis model delivers authentic performance with a Genesis driveline, a five-pole motor, and all-wheel drive for realistic pulling power on passenger trains. It is available in DCC-ready form with Quick Plug and a 21-pin NM connector; sound-equipped versions feature a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 decoder and dual speakers for lifelike engine, horn, and bell sounds in both DC and DCC. Road-number-specific antenna configurations and nose variations add prototype realism, including Via Rail options with a nose spotlight. The model uses RP25 wheel contours, McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible), and independent lighting for headlight, ditch lights, and marker lights, with a minimum 18-inch radius (22 inches recommended) for best performance.
