HO-scale P42DC Locomotive with DCC & Sound, Amtrak Phase IV Heritage 164 is a detailed, officially licensed HO model built to reproduce Amtrak’s Phase IV Heritage locomotive. It comes equipped with a Tsunami2 sound decoder and dual speakers, delivering authentic engine sounds, horn, and bell, while LED headlights, ditch lights, and end marker lights respond to control inputs on both DC and DCC layouts. The model captures prototype Phase IV details with multiple nose variations and antenna configurations for an accurate representation of the real fleet.

Under the hood, the locomotive rides on a redesigned die-cast frame and Genesis-style five-pole motor with all-wheel drive for strong, smooth pulling power and quiet operation. It includes McHenry scale knuckle couplers, RP25 wheels, and a full underbody with detailed air tanks and piping. The DCC-ready Quick Plug system uses a 21-pin NMRA connector for easy decoder upgrades, while the Tsunami2 sound package provides full DCC functionality, slow-speed control, and realistic engine, horn, and bell sounds. Road-number variants include #164 Phase IV Heritage (PTC antenna farm), as-built #82 and #174, and #42 (PTC farm); the lighting package features LED headlights, operating ditch lights, and independently controllable, directional marker lights, with ditch lights flashing in time with the horn in DCC mode. Minimum radius is 18 inches, with 22 inches recommended for the smoothest operation, and the model ships fully assembled and ready to run.
