HO F7A Locomotive with DCC & Sound, Freight – Road Number 824 is an authentic HO-scale diesel model built to replicate GM-EMD’s classic F-unit in freight service. It features an onboard DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound system with dual cube speakers for rich, realistic audio, and it runs on both DC and DCC. Realistic directional lighting, see-through cab windows with a full interior, and a host of finely detailed parts—such as etched metal grills, a detailed fuel tank, and scale-accurate detailing—help reproduce the prototype’s appearance. Body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers and a heavy die-cast frame contribute to reliable operation and pulling power, while carefully applied paint and road-number accuracy match Freight LN 824 on the layout.

Under the hood, the model uses a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation and strong traction. All-wheel drive and reliable current pickup promote steady performance on typical HO layouts, with RP25-contoured wheels for compatibility with common track. LED lighting adds to the realism, and many functions are configurable in DCC with a CV chart included; some features are limited in DC. The model is also a good base for weathering, offering a grime-ready look with faded base colors that resemble an in-service locomotive. For layout planning, a minimum 18" radius is required, with 22" or larger recommended for best results.
