HO F9A F9B Locomotive Set with DCC and Sound (ATHG-1727)

HO F9A F9B Locomotive Set with DCC and Sound (ATHG-1727)

HO-scale F9A and F9B locomotive set with DCC and sound captures the look and performance of General Motors’ first-generation EMD F-units. This two-unit pack includes an A unit leading and a B unit trailing, built around a heavy die-cast frame for sturdy pulling power, with body-mounted scale knuckle couplers for realistic operation. Inside, a DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 delivers engine rumble, horn, and bell sounds through dual cube speakers, and the model runs on both DC and DCC for flexible layout setup. Real-world details such as directional LED lighting, see-through cab windows with a full interior, windshield wipers, wire grab irons, trainline and MU hoses, etched metal fan grilles, and the bulldog-nose silhouette contribute to an authentic, prototypical appearance.

Designed for HO layouts, the F9A/F9B set uses a Genesis-style drivetrain with a 5-pole motor, precision flywheels, and a multi-link drive for smooth, quiet operation and reliable traction. RP25-contoured wheels ensure compatibility with most track brands, while LED lighting adds to the realism. The model is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play 21-pin NEM connectors, and MU lashups can be programmed with lead-unit horn and lights for convincing consists. Minimum radius is 18 inches, with a 22-inch radius recommended for best performance; some functions may be limited in DC, while all functions are NMRA-compatible in DCC mode. Road-name variations are available and the finish is well suited to weathering to recreate an “in-service” look on a freight or passenger assignment.
