This HO-scale GP40-2 Locomotive GM50 is a detailed, ready-to-run model for HO railroads. Based on EMD’s GP40-2, a 3,000-horsepower freight locomotive introduced in the early 1970s with the dash-2 modular electrical cabinet, it captures the look and feel of era-appropriate power for mainline freights, locals, and yard service, with prototype-inspired lighting and interior details for a convincing on-layout presence.

Key features include a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole motor, heavy die-cast frame, and Blomberg B or M trucks with RP25 wheels for smooth operation. It is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play using a 21-pin NEM connector, and sound-equipped versions add onboard Tsunami2 sound with dual speakers for authentic engine and horn effects. Road-number-specific variants recreate schemes across multiple railroads (DRGW, SP, CSX, UP, FEC, RFP, Chessie) with accurate artwork and lit number boards, while some models are primed for grime to deliver an in-service weathered look.
