HO GP40-2 Locomotive FEC #421 (ATHG-1745)

HO GP40-2 Locomotive FEC #421 (ATHG-1745)

The HO GP40-2 Locomotive in Florida East Coast (FEC) livery, numbered 421, is a detailed HO-scale model designed for realistic operation on model railroad layouts. This locomotive captures the GP40-2’s 1970s era design with a dash-2 modular electrical cabinet, and it combines a heavy die-cast frame with a Genesis driveline for smooth, steady pulling power. Features like see-through cab windows with a full interior, LED lighting, fine-scale handrails, lit number boards, body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible), and RP25 wheel contours enhance realism, while DCC-ready Quick Plug plug-and-play technology with a 21-pin NEM connector makes modern digital setup straightforward. A minimum 18-inch radius ensures it fits comfortably on most HO layouts.

For the FEC variant, road-number-specific details include a mid-phase body with corrugated grilles, a large front anticlimber, Blomberg B trucks, and a rounded blower housing for authentic prototype proportions. The FEC paint scheme adds lit number boards, class lights, a front weedcutter plow, RV-style A/C, and front and rear ditch lights that can be simulated on a DCC layout, with 3-Chime horns on both ends adding to the era-accurate silhouette. The model is primed for grime to provide a ready starting point for weathering in-service wear. Sound-equipped versions feature an onboard DCC decoder with Tsunami2 sound, dual cube speakers, and NMRA-compatible functionality in DCC mode (engine, horn, and bell sounds also operable in DC); many functions can be adjusted via CVs, with a CV chart included for reference.
