This model features a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 onboard decoder with dual cube speakers, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds that operate in both DC and DCC modes, with full DCC functionality available when used on a DCC system. It is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology and a 21-pin NEM connector for easy installation. A heavy die-cast frame houses a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor for smooth, quiet operation, while LED lighting, lit number boards, lit class lights and beacons, and a see-through cab interior with a detailed fuel tank deliver prototype-like realism. The minimum radius for reliable operation is 18 inches.

Designed for practical HO layout use, this GP40-2 uses body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible) and RP25 wheels for dependable coupling and smooth tracking on common HO track.
