HO GEN GP38-2 Locomotive CEIX #102 (ATHG-1814)

HO GP38-2 Diesel Locomotive CEIX #102 is a detailed HO-scale model of EMD’s GP38-2 freight locomotive, designed for authentic operation on model railroads. It reproduces the 2,000-horsepower, 16‑cylinder prime mover and alternator setup that powers four traction motors, as well as the dash-2 modular electrical cabinet. A heavy die-cast frame, LED lighting, full cab interior with see-through windows, and fine-scale Celcon handrails capture the look of prototype power, while body-mounted knuckle couplers and RP25 wheel contours provide reliable, smooth operation on a wide range of layouts.

The model is built to accommodate DC or DCC operation and is DCC-ready with Quick Plug 21-pin NEM connectors for easy decoder upgrades. Sound-equipped variants feature onboard DCC decoders with Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers for realistic engine and horn effects, with CVs that let operators tailor performance and lash up multiple units. Road-number specific versions reproduce a variety of liveries and details—such as lit number boards, dynamic brakes, and plow-equipped CEIX and other fleet configurations—across an 18-inch minimum-radius layout.
