HO-scale GP15-1 Locomotive with DCC and Sound from the Athearn Genesis line recreates General Motors Electro-Motive Division’s GP15-1 four-axle diesel-electric switcher, engineered for yard work and light road service. This ready-to-run model delivers authentic operation on modern layouts with DCC control and onboard sound options that bring engine, horn, and bell to life.

Powered by a Genesis driveline with a five-pole motor, it rides on a heavy die-cast frame for solid traction and features all-wheel drive, RP25 wheel contours, LED lighting, a full cab interior with see-through windows, and scale-detail elements like fine Celcon handrails and a detailed fuel tank. It’s DCC-ready with Quick Plug and a 21-pin NEM connector, and includes an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound plus dual cube speakers for rich audio. The model supports NMRA CVs, with a CV chart included, and offers road-number specific variations and Legendary Liveries that replicate iconic railroad schemes. Designed for 18-inch minimum-radius curves (22 inches is recommended) and fully assembled, the GP15-1 is ready to run straight from the box.
