HO-scale GP15-1 diesel locomotive with DCC and sound in Norfolk Southern NS 1440, a faithful recreation of EMD’s compact four-axle switcher designed for yard work and light road service in the late 1970s to early 1980s. This model includes an onboard DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound with dual speakers for realistic engine, horn, and bell audio, and it can operate on both DC and DCC layouts for flexible operation.

NS 1440 carries road-number specific detail such as a cab signal box and rear grab irons, while broader features include scale handrails, see-through cab windows, LED lighting, and body-mounted knuckle couplers on a heavy die-cast frame for traction. The DCC+sound version supports full function control and slow-speed operation, with meticulous paint and detailing suitable for yard and interchange scenes. It is ready-to-run out of the box and performs best on layouts with minimum radii of 18 inches (22 inches recommended).
