HO GP39-2 Phase I Locomotive UP #2733 (ATHG-1969)

HO GP39-2 Phase I Locomotive UP #2733 (ATHG-1969)

HO-scale GP39-2 diesel locomotive in Union Pacific Phase I livery, UP 2733, is a highly detailed model designed to capture EMD’s mid-horsepower road switcher from the GP39-2 family. Scaled from prototype resources—drawings, measurements, and photographs—it reproduces the early Phase I UP appearance with era-appropriate details, including a newly toolD D&H-style walkway and fuel tank, front tall ditch lights, a Nathan 5-chime horn, and a large Sinclair antenna.

Inside, the locomotive features see-through cab windows with a full interior, etched metal fan grilles, and fine Celcon handrails for a convincing scale look. It rides on Blomberg-B or Blomberg-M trucks with appropriate bearing caps, uses body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible), and wears LED lighting for realistic signaling. The Genesis driveline combines a 5-pole skew-wound motor with precision flywheels and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation, while all-wheel electrical pickup and RP25 wheel contours help it perform reliably on common HO track. DCC-ready Quick Plug connectivity (21-pin NMRA) supports easy digital control, and many versions can be equipped with onboard DCC with SoundTrax Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers for engine, horn, and bell sounds; CVs are adjustable with the included CV chart. A heavy die-cast frame provides traction and pulling power, the model handles an 18-inch minimum radius, and paint and detailing are faithful to the UP prototype for an authentic finish.
