N GEN 4-8-8-4 Big Boy Locomotive with DCC & Sound and CA-11 Caboose (ATHG-2080)

Introducing the ATHEARN Genesis 4-8-8-4 Big Boy steam locomotive with DCC and sound, paired with the CA-11 Snowbus caboose. This ready-to-run set recreates Union Pacific’s iconic Big Boy power, with UP 4014 on the locomotive and Snowbus caboose UP 25809. It includes a built-in DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound, and runs on both DC and DCC layouts with full DCC functions; chuff, whistle and bell sounds are available on DC as well, and directional LEDs keep lighting consistent as the train runs.

Detail-wise, the locomotive features a boiler backhead with printed gauges, individually applied piping, and see-through running boards and cab windows, all mounted on a heavy die-cast frame for traction. It uses body-mounted scale knuckle couplers and RP25 wheel contours for reliable operation. The CA-11 Snowbus caboose delivers a richly detailed interior, see-through end platforms, etched window screens, wire-form grab irons, and full underframe detail, plus weighted construction and body-mounted couplers. The set supports MU lashups and CV-driven customization on DCC layouts, with a CV chart included; minimum radii are 11 inches for the locomotive and 9 3/4 inches for the caboose.
