HO GEN GATC 2600 Airslide Covered Hopper (ATHG-2123)

HO Scale GATC 2600 Airslide Covered Hopper is a faithful reproduction of General American Transportation's 2,600-cubic-foot Airslide hopper for HO layouts. In prototype service, the bays are two narrow, steep-sided troughs with an air-permeable bottom; air pumped through the material fluidizes the load so it can flow easily to the outlets. The 2,600 cu ft car carried about 70 tons, and some examples were later connected in two-car drawbar sets for a total capacity of 5,200 cu ft.

On an HO-scale layout, the model offers three body styles and a highly detailed underbody with outlet piping, plus a see-through roof walk and accurately painted and printed roof hardware. It includes factory-installed wire grab irons and brake piping, with separately applied round roof hatches and brake wheel. For operation, it can run with roller bearing or Bettendorf trucks and machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, weighted for smooth tracking, and it uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. The injection-molded body is finely detailed and finished for a realistic look, and the car is designed for typical 18-inch minimum-radius track.
