HO GEN GATC 2600 Airslide Covered Hopper SOU #90040 (ATHG-2126)

HO-scale General American Transportation GATC 2,600-cubic-foot Airslide Covered Hopper in SOU livery is a faithful reproduction of a mid-20th-century bulk-carrier designed for efficient unloading. The Airslide concept uses two narrow, steep-sided troughs with an air-permeable bottom, and air pumped through the load fluidizes it so commodities such as flour, starch, sugar and plastics flow easily to the outlets for discharge.

Model features include three body styles, a detailed underbody with outlet piping, see-through metal roof walk, factory-installed wire grab irons and brake piping, and separately applied round roof hatches and brake wheel. It rides on either roller-bearing or Bettendorf trucks with machined RP25 wheels and is weighted for stable operation. Body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, precise painting and printing, and a highly detailed injection-molded body round out the model. A minimum 18-inch radius ensures smooth operation on most HO layouts.
