HO GEN GP7L Locomotive with DCC and Sound - LN #494 (ATHG-2317)

HO-scale GP7L diesel locomotive equipped with DCC and sound brings a classic switcher to modern layouts. This model reproduces the GP7L’s short-hood profile and full cab, and includes a DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound so engine, horn, and bell audio play in both DC and DCC modes. A Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision machined flywheels, and a heavy die-cast frame delivers smooth, quiet pulling power, while see-through cab windows, fine-scale handrails, etched radiator and fan grilles, and RP25 wheel contours add prototype detail. Built for reliable operation on layouts with an 18" minimum radius, the design also supports CV tuning for precise slow-speed control and easy MU lashups.

Road-number specific variants mimic prototype schemes, including LN 494, with features such as a 1200-gallon fuel tank, two exhaust stacks with spark arrestors, and a front Pyle National gyralight that oscillates in DCC mode. The locomotive rides on body-mounted scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible), MU hoses and trainline connections, and offers Quick Plug plug-and-play wiring with a 21-pin NEM connector for straightforward DCC setup. A CV chart is included to help tailor a multiple-unit lashup, and authentic paint schemes and weathering-ready surfaces make this GP7L a convincing centerpiece for any HO roster.
