HO ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper AC&Y #470 (ATHG15428)

An HO-scale model of a 3-bay Center Flow hopper in the 4600 cu ft class, designed for grain and other bulk cargo on a layout. The prototype, built by American Car and Foundry in the mid-1960s, features a rounded body for gravity unloading and no traditional center sill. This AC&Y road-name 470 replica is fully assembled and ready to run, with accurate paint and lettering for immediate operation on an HO layout.

Three body styles—early, mid and late variants—are represented to reflect changes in ladders and stiffeners over the years. The model includes round or trough hatches, a photo-etched roofwalk, and separately applied wire grab irons and stirrup steps. It also features brake hardware with a separate brake cylinder, valve, and air reservoir with wire brake plumbing, plus multiple roadnumbers. The car rides on screw-mounted Genesis 100-ton trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels and animated roller bearing caps, and is weighted for steady operation with body-mounted McHenry scale-knuckle couplers. Accurate painting and printing complete the realistic finish for ready-to-run grain-car detail on the layout.
