HO ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper (ATHG15433)

HO ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper (ATHG15433)

HO scale ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper is a detailed model of the mid-1960s American Car and Foundry bulk-car designed for grain service. This three‑bay center‑flow covered hopper uses a rounded body to enable gravity unloading and avoids the traditional center sill, reflecting the real car’s design to improve unloading efficiency. With a 4600 cu ft capacity in the prototype, the model captures the scale and operational spirit of the era’s grain trains on layouts that use Plate B clearances on light branch lines.

Ready to run straight from the box, this model features three body styles—Early, Mid and Late—with period‑accurate details such as different brake wheel placements, ladders, and stiffeners. It includes round or trough hatches, a photo-etched roofwalk, and separately applied wire grab irons and stirrup steps, plus a variety of outlet configurations and road numbers. The car rides on Genesis 100‑ton trucks with 36‑inch machined metal wheels and animated spinning roller bearing caps, with screw‑mounted trucks, body‑mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, and weight tuned for smooth handling. The injection‑molded body is highly detailed and accurately painted and printed, making it a convincing addition to grain trains and bulk‑freight consist on HO layouts.
