The HO F45 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, GN 428, is an HO-scale, ready-to-run diesel that faithfully models Electro-Motive Division’s F45 cowl-bodied freight locomotive as used by Great Northern. This model includes a DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound, delivering authentic engine, horn, and bell sounds in DCC operation while remaining operable on DC layouts. Built on a heavy die-cast frame with a detailed body that features a full cab interior, see-through windows, and scale handrails, it delivers the look and heft of the prototype for a convincing on-layout display.

On the rails, it offers smooth, quiet performance with all-wheel drive and precision gearing, plus RP25-contour wheels for reliable tracking on common HO track. It’s DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology and a 21-pin NEM connector, and GN-specific detailing includes a Xenon beacon, high-mounted headlight, winterization hatch, and a 3-chime horn, along with a detailed fuel tank and walkways.
