HO F3A Locomotive Monon #82-B (ATHG19580)

HO F3A Locomotive Monon is an HO-scale diesel-electric model recreating the Monon Railroad’s late-1940s F-3 passenger power, finished in the Indiana University-inspired red and grey scheme. Designed for serious layout operation, it combines authentic detailing with reliable performance, including see-through cab windows with a full cab interior, detailed metal and molded parts, and a heavy die-cast frame that provides solid traction and a tangible presence on the layout.

Power comes from a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole motor and all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet operation, along with RP25-contoured wheels and full electrical pickup. LED lighting reproduces prototype signals, and body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers are Kadee-compatible. The model is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology and a 21-pin NEM connector; sound-equipped versions include an on-board DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2, dual speakers, and separate sound boards for each unit, with engine, horn, and bell sounds active in DC and fully NMRA-compatible in DCC. The minimum radius is 18 inches (22 inches recommended) to ensure trouble-free operation on common layouts, and the design supports MU lashups for realistic Monon passenger trains.
