HO-scale Monon F3A/F3A Locomotive Set with DCC and Sound recreates late-1940s Monon passenger power with two EMD F-3 units in the Indiana University-inspired red-and-gray livery, numbered 84-A and 84-B. It captures prototype detailing such as dual headlights, a rear back-up light, high radiator fans, steam generator fixtures, and chicken-wire grilles, while sound-equipped versions include onboard DCC decoders with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound and separate sound boards in each unit. Engine, horn, and bell sounds operate in DC, with some functions limited in DC, and all functions NMRA-compatible in DCC.

Built for HO layouts, the set uses a heavy die-cast frame for traction, RP25 wheels for smooth operation on common track, and body-mounted scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible). Realistic lighting with see-through cab interiors, etched metal fan grilles, and wire grab irons enhance the look, while Quick Plug DCC readiness with a 21-pin NEM connector simplifies decoder upgrades. The arrangement supports MU lashups with lead-unit control of lights and sounds, and a CV chart is provided to tailor performance to the layout.
