HO FP7 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, CR #4362 (ATHG19696)

An HO-scale FP7 locomotive with DCC and sound, this model faithfully reproduces General Motors’ EMD FP7 diesel-electric locomotive, a 1,500-horsepower passenger-hauler from the postwar era. It includes a DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound and dual cube speakers, so engine, horn, and bell come to life on both DC and DCC layouts. Quick Plug plug-and-play technology with a 21-pin NEM connector makes DCC installation straightforward, while a heavy die-cast frame, LED lighting, see-through cab windows with a full cab interior, and detailed Blomberg-B trucks with prototype-specific bearings deliver a convincing, operation-ready centerpiece. Intricate etched metal grills and other separately applied parts further enhance the FP7’s authentic look.

Designed for passenger service and sometimes freight work, the FP7’s longer body and frame reflect the prototype’s steam-heat equipment and trailing-car arrangement. The model captures a wide range of prototypical detail, including coupler cut levers, trainline and MU hoses, windshield wipers, lift rings, wire grab irons, sanding lines, and see-through cab access. Sound-equipped versions offer an onboard DCC decoder with Tsunami2 sound and two speakers, with sounds operable in both DC and DCC; some functions are limited in DC, but all functions are NMRA-compatible in DCC and CV-tunable for horn, bell, lights, beacons, and other effects. The locomotive supports MU lashups and realistic low-speed operation, and it is designed for smooth performance on layouts with minimum 18-inch curves (22-inch curves recommended).
