HO 50' PC&F Ex-Post Box Car (ATHG26891)

HO-scale Pacific Car & Foundry Ex-Post insulated box car, as depicted in the Athearn Genesis line, recreates a 50-foot boxcar used to haul temperature-sensitive cargo like canned goods. The model reflects prototype-specific side panel construction and door types, and it includes a cushion-underframe and full brake rigging to deliver authentic operation on HO layouts.

Designed for HO layouts, this model embodies the era when insulated boxcars became common in the 1960s. It features separate wire grab irons and etched coupler platforms, full underframe detail (air brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinder with plumbing and brake rods), and is weighted for steady rolling. Trucks with rotating bearing caps, plus coupler lift bars, trainline hoses, and brake hoses, accompany body-mounted scale knuckle couplers and machined metal wheels with RP25 contours for reliable performance on most HO track. Crisp painting and printing add to the prototype look, and the car is best operated on curves with a 22-inch radius (18-inch minimum).
